Asia’s Most Authentic Creative Festival Returns with the Theme: “LOCAL PLUS”
From December 6–14, 2025, Chiang Mai’s streets, galleries, and cafés will transform into a city-wide stage for innovation, storytelling, and community-driven design as the 11th edition of Chiang Mai Design Week (CMDW) kicks off.
Organized by Thailand’s Creative Economy Agency (CEA), CMDW 2025 returns with a theme of “LOCAL PLUS” — celebrating how local wisdom, crafts, and community-rooted creativity are elevated through modern design, collaboration, and global connection.
Expect a powerful blend of exhibitions, public art, design markets, workshops, and immersive installations, drawing more than 50,000 attendees including artists, designers, entrepreneurs, and curious wanderers from around the world.

CMDW 2025 Festival Highlights

Venue Spotlight: The Living Districts of Chiang Mai
CMDW unfolds across Chiang Mai’s Old City — with its historic temples and slow-living streets — and the modern Nimman Creative District, home to co-working spaces, design studios, and hip cafés. These districts become pop-up galleries, think tanks, and gathering spaces for nine days of creativity.
Chiang Mai: Where Craft Meets Culture and Creativity
Long known as Thailand’s craft capital, Chiang Mai has evolved into a regional epicenter for creative industries — blending artisanal heritage with modern design sensibility. CMDW is a reflection of the city’s thriving maker culture and its future as a hub for sustainable innovation.
